4th of July

We had a fun 4th of July!  I was probably Brady's age when we started our 4th of July tradition...go to Grandma & Grandpa's house in Yorkville and watch the parade (it used to go right in front of their house, but now turns the corner just before it).  Then we head over to the park for running races and games.

The parade was really good as usual.  Lots of Red, White, and Blue.  Anna loved the candy and Brady loved the cars and trucks!

We headed straight over to the races, since the 5-year-olds are first.  Anna ran a good race.

Brady took off quick in the "under 2" race, but as he was about to clinch 3rd place, a certain leaf on the ground caught his attention and he decided he better stop, turn around, and go get it.  It was funny.  It's great on video!  If I figure out how to put that on here I will.  Just don't hold your breath!

Later we went to a party at our neighbors across the street from our house.  Anna & I made some cucumber sandwiches and jalapeno chili meatballs (experimental and YUMMY!) to take to the party.  Anna is quite the comedian lately (and she doesn't even know it!).  I let her sprinkle the dill weed on the cucumber sandwiches and she said immediately "EEWWW, this stuff looks like NOSE HAIR!"  It was a great laugh!

We didn't know how well you could see Yorkville's fireworks from our back yard.  Now we will have a new tradition to add!  Brett said he'll build some stadium seating for next year, we'll open a concession stand, add some music, and THEY WILL COME!
